Gardens growing.....

Potatoes
Onions
Broccoli
Romaine Lettuce
Salad anyone? Really! I'm pretty sure I will be tired of lettuce once I get through the first row!
Carrots
Snap peas
These are not for me! Gag! But the kids love them, so I figured I could at least find a little spot for them.
Green beans
First cucumber on the vine. Its a little curvy and narly looking.
(Guess thats why I'm supposed to vine them trelles them up! I'll get there.)
Strawberries
We have had several ripe ones that are obviously quite appealing to the little varmets around because we have to get to eat one ourselves.
Tomatoes
Our "13" tomato plants have now multiplied and we are at 30 plus a tomatillo.
First fruits on the vine. (proof I must be doing something right!!)
 Sugar baby watermelons
              (crossin my fingers on these!!)
Pickling cucumbers
First Jalapeno
Squash
Muskmelon
first fruit
So we are a little over a month in and it has been quite a bit of work. We will have well over the amount of veggies the four of us can handle but my next task will be to learn how to can! Yup the learning process is never ending!

Green Acres....

Here we go, another blog I will start and try to keep up to date.

I promise to try!

So garden is planted and chickens are growing so I thought it would be a good time to post some pictures of what has been keeping us super busy and a little crazy at times.

 Our chicken coop
Our little chirpy chicks 4 days old
 Chirpy chicks 6 weeks old
The girls having their morning talk over breakfast.
 The veggie field
Somebody had to weed the thing!
And its off and growing! We have so many veggies in this garden. Our plot is about 30' x 50'. We started in April with 3 rows potatoes, 1 row red and 1 row yellow onions,2 rows broccoli, 2 rows califlower, 3 rows romaine lettuce, and 1 row spinach all as seed or sets. They have all grown like crazy! This mother's day weekend we added plants; 13 tomatoes,24 peppers, 9 cucumbers, 3 squash, 36 beans, and 6 strawberries.  FARMERS MARKET AT OUR HOUSE! :D
So when we arent in the garden or taking care of the chickens sometimes
we go fishin...
or have guests...
 or check on the geese...
 or go for a drive....
but we continually stumble on new life....
This has all been such a learning process for all of us. We have learned how to slow down and take it all in. Everday is something new, and there is always something to be done.
Its our green acres and for right now its a pretty cool place to be.
